About

Pietro Russo was born in Luxemburg of Italian parents. He studied Architecture at La Cambre in Brussels and Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi in Copenhagen. He wrote his final thesis in conjunction with University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in 2002, which is when he decided to leave Europe and set up Home in Cape Town South Africa.

With over 10 years experience in modular and timber construction Pietro has developed an outstanding aesthetic matched by craftsmanship rarely seen in South Africa. The idea to create homes that could be build off site using natural materials such as wood and glass, was initially inspired by his personal desire to spend time in the ‘middle of nowhere’, in a gently and elegantly designed space. It was with this in mind and his commitment to finding the most ecological, efficient and aesthetically pleasing way to construct such homes that Ecomo Home was born. Today, Ecomo Home stands out as the most sophisticated example of timber framed homes in South Africa.
